Internship Program at DKB

Accounting Internship

We want to make sure our interns are learning as much as possible, but also having fun along the way.  As part of our program we assign our interns a buddy, typically a first or second year team member, to make sure they have someone to turn to for help.  We wanted to learn more about our interns so, their buddies asked them some questions about themselves, and their thoughts on an accounting career.  Below is Courtney’s Q&A with one of our summer interns, Jacob.

Where are you from and where did you go to college?

Fairport and currently attending the University of Dayton.

What made you choose accounting as your major?

In my sophomore year I took my first account class, financial accounting. I found it oddly satisfying because it was like trying to solve a problem or a puzzle, time fly’s when I am working on anything accounting related.

What is something someone would be surprised to learn about you?

Every year instead of spending the 4th of July, or Independence Day, in America, my family and I take a trip up to Canada.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love to fish, A LOT! I am in the process of fly fishing. I also loves to stay busy. During my recovery time from my ACL injury, I watched videos on learning how to play the ukulele.

What are you looking forward to as you begin to start your accounting career?

I have never worked a busy season and can’t wait to experience one.

What are you nervous about as you begin to start your accounting career?

Busy season. Even though I am excited about busy season I am also very nervous.
